Who is Thinking right?

Question : What is used for Putting Out Fire
Answers :     A. Air          B. Water.

Friend : “What is the answer to this question?”
Myself : “Of course, B – Water”

See, that’s what I am talking about. He doesn’t “Think” about it. He selected “A- Air”

Myself and My Friend were having discussion about his son’s traits, who is 7 years old.
Well, maybe he looks for someone telling him instead of thinking for himself.
But I was not convinced whether this example really shows that he doesn’t think.

Me        : ” Why did he write A-Air ?”
Friend : “Because we don’t use water to blow out candles on a birthday-cake”
Me        : “But surely he is thinking. He didn’t select “Water” just because someone taught it. Of course he selected Air, because he sees birthday candles blown out with air instead of fire being put out with water”
Friend  : “But he knows oxygen will help fire getting worse. I have taught him all about it. If only he had really concentrated and thought about it, he would have selected right answer.”

I still feel that kid was ‘Thinking’ properly for his age and my Friend still believes that there is problem with ‘Thinking’

What do you think?

And, I became Prof. McGonagall

And, I became Prof. McGonagall

I was debating over it for few months , and finally gave up for the wishes of my daughter. She wanted to hear Harry Potter stories, but I thought she is too young (She is 6 and half years old).

My daughter gets easily scared and have nightmares of monsters, insects and so on. Also didn’t want to tell her about Harry’s rule breaking in school , when she has just started 😉 .. an orphan child whose parents are killed. So what? I thought . They do learn many of these things from children’s stories, mythology books and cartoons. Voldemort could be just another monster.

My daughter was in seventh heaven when I started reading “Harry Potter and Philosophers’s Stone” to her. She immediately started feeling sorry for poor lonely Harry and started hating Dudley (And Draco Later on). As story progressed, she was too much into world of Harry  that he family soon became characters from harry potter book. Her mother became Prof Dumbledore (Yes, she clearly knows who is boss in our house) and I became Prof. McGonagall (Second  in command). She rarely made anyone Harry though (Quickly realized that he was orphan. Didn’t want such a fate for anyone, I guess) . Surprisingly she liked (and became) Hagrid a lot, probably because he introduced Harry to Magical world.

Difficult words were spoken fluently very soon (Quidditch, Gryphindor, wingardium leviosa etc..). She started wondering why so many of words start with letter’H’ (Harry, Hagrid, Hogwarts, Hermione, Hufflepuff) – I didn’t have answer.   She tried to spread Harry Potter awareness to rest of the family and friends (Only two of us are Potter-Literate as of now). So let’s see how this story goes for us. I haven’t really completed the book to her for now. Letting her to munch it a bit before continuing.

She is currently waiting to become 11-year-old , to get an invitation from Hogwarts. Lol.
